Brianna Brewer
Co-Head Coach
Grew up in Sydney playing for the attackers volleyball club as a libero winning 3 provincial championships
Played on the provincial volleyball team for 3 summers.
Once graduated, played a couple years at University Kings college.
Coaching over 12 years now.
Coached at Citadel for 2 years, winning regionals and provincials
Riverview girls varsity teams for 3 years
Prince Andrew boys and u18 DVC boys winning provincials
Coached u14-u18 girls club teams at a variety of clubs. Winning provincials for u15 girls one season.
Coached within the provincial team for a 3 summers winning eastern elites for 16u girls
This will be my first season with Blizz volleyball team.
Had the opportunity to coach with a lot of incredible coaches and I’m looking forward to sharing my love of the game with upcoming players who have the same passion.
Currently working in the operating room as a registered nurse doing orthopaedic surgeries.
Isaiah Hipel
Co-Head Coach
Coaching Experience: 1st Year with Bedford Blizzard Volleyball Club; previously coached two years with the men’s team at Citadel High School and served as an associate coach with Team Nova Scotia. Head coach for Scotia Juniors for one full club season.
Playing Highlights: played for 4 years on the varsity men’s volleyball team at Trent University, OUA conference. I played as a setter for all four years and was elected as team captain in my fourth year.
Coaching Highlights: Associate coach with Team Nova Scotia; coached high-performance camps such as Invado Volleyball, Ontario High Performance Camp, and Peterborough Thunder.
Additional Information: Passionate about leadership and athlete development, with a focus on helping young athletes reach their potential on and off the court.
Current Role/Studies: PhD candidate in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, specializing in leadership. Part time professor at Saint Mary’s University and research statistician at Mount Saint Vincent University.
Marissa Macaulay
Assistant Coach
1st year with Bedford Blizzard Volleyball Club; first year coaching the men’s team at Citadel High School.
Payed for 2 years on the varsity women’s volleyball team at Saint Mary’s University. Also played one year at Holland College where I received ACAA league MVP and was awarded an All-Canadian at Nationals. I played as a setter.
Coaching young athletes is incredibly rewarding, as you get to watch them grow in skill, confidence, and character. Seeing their passion and resilience on and off the court is inspiring.
Cole Atkinson
Assistant Coach
Coaching Experience: 1st year coaching with Bedford Blizzards, in my first year of coaching I was an assistant coach for Scotia Juniors and Ecole Secondaire Mosaique.
Playing History: Grew up playing in the valley for Horton High School and Waves Volleyball Club, then moved to play for Halifax West High School and Tigers Volleyball Club. I also played in the ACAA for University of Kings College as a Libero.
Playing Highlights: Runner up in 2011/2012 ACAA Finals, Won a Provincial title with Tigers U18 as well as other Second and Third place finishes in provincials with Tigers and Waves volleyball clubs.
Coaching Highlights: Runner up of Division two girls High School regional finals with Ecole Secondaire Mosaique.
Career: Working as a Cell Technician for Salient Energy Inc developing a new battery.
